Summer Home Tour: A Peek Inside Our 1960s Colonial Home
Welcome to our summer home tour! It’s like a mullet – business in the front, party in the back. The front of the house is ready for company, all styled and put together. Head towards the back, and you’ll find art projects, toy mayhem, and pool towels drying. That’s the honest truth!

For now, let’s focus on the “business” part of the house – our foyer and dining room.
I wish I could show you more, but a sprained ankle has slowed me down a bit. Navigating the house while pregnant and managing a camera has been quite the challenge, especially in these two rooms.
Welcome to Our Summer-Ready Foyer
Our foyer is the first impression. It sets the stage for visitors, giving the illusion of a put-together household. The truth is, with a small but energetic family of three, things are often wonderfully chaotic, especially during this time of year!

Trader Joe’s flowers are my secret weapon! They help me keep my cool amid dance recitals, preschool graduations, school plays, cookouts, birthdays, and Mother’s Day preparations. May is always the month when I need a moment to stop and smell the flowers the most.
But it’s a good kind of busy. The fun kind.

It’s amazing to think that just a year ago, this foyer had goldenrod yellow walls and was completely bare! A fresh coat of paint, some IKEA frames, and a Craigslist find transformed the space.

Dining Room Refresh for Summer Entertaining
The dining room is still a work in progress, but it holds a special place in my heart. This room comes alive on weekends and holidays when our families gather after grilling in the backyard.
We’re incredibly fortunate to live close to Robert’s parents, my parents, and my grandmother. Family get-togethers are a regular occurrence, especially during the summer months.

Our dining table was another lucky Craigslist find. We painted it and built an oak tabletop, and the rest of the room design organically evolved from there.

I’ve set the table for Mother’s Day, as Robert and my dad will be smoking a brisket for my grandmother, my mom, and me. (Any holiday where I don’t have to cook and can just decorate is a win!)

Though I have to admit, that apple pie might not last until the weekend!

Speaking of moms, my mom and I created this antique mirror gallery wall a couple of months ago, and it might be my favorite project we’ve ever done together. She was DIYing before DIY became mainstream.

I’ll share the rest of our home all decked out for summer once I’m fully recovered, and I manage to wrangle the toy explosion and pool towel situation. Survival mode, y’all! If you’re a mom and feeling the pressure of May, let’s take some time this Sunday to relax. Solidarity, sisters!
