Backyard Transformation: Unveiling the Progress

Backyard Landscaping Transformation: From Overgrown to Open and Inviting

We’ve been busy this year! If you’ve been following along, you know we’ve been tackling quite a few backyard projects. From refreshing the pool area to sprucing up the back porch, it’s been a season of outdoor improvements. It’s been exciting to see everything come together.

The weather has been exceptionally pleasant, allowing us to enjoy all the outdoor work and fun we’ve been having. The mild June days have been a welcome change, making the projects much more enjoyable.

The Challenge: An Overgrown Backyard

When we first moved into our home, we were drawn to the privacy provided by the heavily wooded backyard. The abundance of trees made the half-acre lot feel even more expansive. The trees were a major selling point for us. However, we soon realized that the dense trees were starting to limit our use of the yard.

The Solution: Clearing the Way for Fun

The first step was removing an old pergola that was deteriorating. We also decided to save the old bricks scattered throughout the yard to use them later for building a fire pit. Resourcefulness is key, right?

Next on the list was removing the old, rickety fencing.

The biggest undertaking was the massive tree and brush removal. This involved a significant investment, but it was essential to open up the space. We saved for two years to hire a professional tree service, because it’s important to prioritize safety when dealing with tree removal.

The Transformation: A New Backyard Vision

The difference is incredible! The backyard now feels incredibly open, while still retaining a sense of privacy thanks to the remaining wooded areas behind the house. We’ve gone from a space that felt closed in to one that invites you to come out and play.

Future Plans: Expanding the Outdoor Fun

With the major clearing completed, the next steps involve grading the yard to improve drainage, enhancing the grass, building a fire pit using the reclaimed bricks, and creating a playhouse/playground for the girls. We’re excited to create an outdoor space that’s perfect for family fun.

Creating Your Own Outdoor Oasis

We’re looking forward to having a lot more room to run around! Imagine the possibilities: yard games, a garden… the sky’s the limit!

What are your favorite backyard features that bring you the most enjoyment in your outdoor spaces? We’d love to hear your ideas and inspiration! Our backyard is now a whole new space, and we can’t wait to have many adventures in it.
